Both countries emphasized that they still welcome genuine Nigerian students and that the visa application process remains open to qualified candidates.
Education consultants pointed out that the “ban” rumor likely originated from a misunderstanding of stricter financial requirement checks introduced to curb fraudulent bank statements. The Nigerian government, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, also reassured the public that diplomatic channels remain open to ensure the fair treatment of Nigerian students abroad. Prospective students are advised to check the official “gov.uk” or “canada.ca” websites for accurate immigration rules rather than relying on blog headlines.
